The Parisian Apartment
Thanks to this wonderful collaboration, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group enlisted PLENDI and entrusted us with a new project to renovate the suites on the 6th floor of the luxury hotel in Paris in 2018.
The new 630-square-meter “signature suite,” one of the largest in the capital, was designed by Gilles & Boissier as a modern Parisian apartment. A blend of materials—leather-upholstered panels, brushed wood, coffered ceilings with 1930s motifs, and fabrics custom-designed specifically for this project—once again showcase PLENDI’s expertise and craftsmanship.
The Importance of Interior Design
There is no major project in which interior design does not take center stage! It is interior design that adds the finishing touch to projects—and particularly to the Mandarin Oriental in Paris. It is also interior design that showcases the expertise of the designers, creators, and artisans who collaborate with the PLENDI teams.
To honor the hotel’s name, special attention was paid to oriental refinement, yet in a subtle harmony with French Art Deco inspirations.
Among the designers who worked on this palace, Sybille DE MARGERIE deserves special mention, as she was responsible for the decoration of the guest rooms, lobby, and spa. She was the one who specifically selected the hotel’s iconic sculpture, created by Nathalie DECOSTER. Sybille DE MARGERIE used luxurious and precious materials, such as crystal, gold leaf, taffeta, and lacquer. The stylish furniture bears the signatures of Ali MADHAVI, Thierry BISCH, and Nathalie DECOSTER.
For the common areas, the bar, and the palace’s two restaurants, interior designers Patrick JOUIN and Sanjit MANKU were selected. The result is both stunning and sumptuous, featuring a harmonious palette of whites and cream tones. It perfectly showcases the dishes of Michelin-starred chef Thierry MARX.
